February Monthly Theme: First Impressions

You only get one chance to make a first impression!

“A brand is the set of expectations, memories, stories and relationships that, taken together, account for a consumer’s decision to choose one product or service over another.” - Seth Godin

You only get one chance to make a first impression! Have you carefully considered exactly what image you are conveying? What kind of story are you telling your customers when they first visit your website?

When someone lands on your home page, or takes a look at your social media profile, you only have a moment to capture their attention. You want to give them an immediate understanding of who you are and what you do.

"Design is the silent ambassador of your brand." - Paul Rand

Effective first impressions will help your visitors immediately understand the story you are telling them. Are you a skilled and meticulous craftsperson? Are your workshops known for being a laugh-out-loud experience?

Are the words and pictures that describe your class eye-catching and informative? Do they clearly state what it is that students will learn during their time with you? Are they faced with a wall of text?

This month in the Academy our guest expert, Lisa M. Barnes will help us write workshop descriptions that are effective and clear (open to all members live, then the replay will be available in the College of Continuing Education for paid memberships).

In addition, members will be discussing the different ways to maximize the visual impact of our brand with great first impressions. We invite you to join us at members.academyforvirtualteaching.com. Membership is free and available to all makers who want to create a business teaching what they love online.
