Which Direction Will You Go?

Every entrepreneur knows that there is always a never-ending list of business tasks that need to be done. How do you choose to spend your time?

“Being busy does not always mean real work. The object of all work is production or accomplishment and to either of these ends, there must be forethought, system, planning, intelligence, and honest purpose, as well as perspiration. Seeming to do is not doing.” - Thomas Alva Edison, Inventor, Businessman

Every entrepreneur knows that there is always a never-ending list of business tasks that need to be done. You are one person and your precious time is limited. How you choose to spend that time will determine how far you get towards growing your business.

Growing your business will depend on what your goals are and you can’t effectively use your time unless you know what tasks are most productive in relation to your specific goals. Running a business is hard. No arguing there. If you set systems in place before you set out, before things get overwhelming, you will be better prepared to spend your time wisely this coming year.

“Instead of limiting your imagination by current circumstances and constraints, imagine a world in which some key constraints don't exist, and ask yourself how you or your [business] might respond.” - Jonathan Garo Koomey

Take a moment and think about what the most important goal for your business this year is. This is not the time to be entirely practical - think big! Don’t let fear inhibit your dreams. You will certainly need to think practically soon, but not yet. Give yourself the gift of some quiet time to dream.

  • Do you want to create more content and have a larger portfolio of offerings for your audience?
  • Do you want to make more connections with hiring entities like guilds?
  • Do you want to gain independence and schedule your own workshops that fill to maximum enrollment every time you offer them?

Write down your thoughts then begin to organize and categorize your goals in a way that makes sense to your business.

This month in the Academy, members will be discussing the different ways people plan for their business goals and ways to stay on track. We invite you to join us at http://members.academyforvirtualteaching.com.
